A seminar by Philippa Hammond for the CIPD Sussex Trainers’ Forum –
A selection of comments from the professional trainers who attended:

“A great presentation. Really useful and entertaining!”

Cathy Robinson, Assoc CIPD, Wellbeing and Nutrition Trainer

“Thanks Philippa for an excellent evening. Good exercises and good to step out a bit using and practising the techniques. It was interactive and some good discussions too. It has helped me to think about how I use my voice in the training room too.”

Keith Stewart, Journeyman Training Limited

“I found your session so interesting, particularly in understanding how breathing related to voice projection, tone and sounding confident. I thought you modelled speaking to a group in an engaging and effortless manner really well…very impressed.”

Amanda Saunders, Management Development Consultant

“I thought this was a super session – very energetic and memorable. I really liked the discussion about the “Fear”, how it is normal and how to deal with it. … and I will make a real effort to view my so-far unwatched DVD of The King’s Speech.”

Wendy Tagg, Freelance Trainer

“I thought you were very good as a presenter, and obviously knew your stuff. You appear to be passionate about what you do, and I am sure this goes a long way with clients.”

Lylie Fitzpatrick, Mpsych, Consultant Business Psychologist

“Just wanted to say thank you for a very inspiring session at the Trainers Forum. The exercises to help with public speaking and reading aloud to audiences were great together with the tips on preparation before giving a performance of any type. You made the evening fun but also a great learning experience.”

Jenny Sladen, JRS Life Coaching

“… an excellent example of plain English … The clear layout, logical flow and use of white space make this publication very easy to read. The question and answer format is used very effectively to get across important information. Personal references, the active voice, short sentences and the lack of jargon all add together to inform the reader … “

I was the keynote speaker at the Brighton City Business Club’s business breakfast event on November 20th.

I first came to their attention when I attended an event and was asked to give my Elevator Speech to the assembled Brighton and Hove business community. As a result, I was invited to give a presentation on Public Speaking on November 20th.

We looked at why we get nervous, what nerves do to us and how we can overcome them to become confident and effective public speakers.
